Key Responsibilities

• Design FPGA architectures using VHDL, Verilog and/or High-Level Synthesis (HLS).
• Develop, integrate and verify custom IP cores using AMD Xilinx Vivado.
• Design and integrate AXI4, AXI-Stream and AXI-Lite interfaces.
• Perform timing closure, resource optimisation and hardware debugging.
• Integrate FPGA designs with embedded ARM processors.
• Configure and support embedded Linux environments, including PetaLinux.
• Develop and test software using Ubuntu Linux development environments.
• Deploy and optimise FPGA-based neural network accelerators where required.
• Support board bring-up, hardware integration and laboratory validation.
• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to engineering reports.
• Collaborate with the engineering team throughout the system development lifecycle.

Essential Qualifications

• BSc, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline.
• Experience with AMD Xilinx Vivado.
• Experience developing FPGA designs using VHDL, Verilog and/or HLS.
• Good understanding of digital design principles.
• Programming experience in C/C++ and/or Python.
• Experience working in Linux environments.
• Good written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with Zynq-7000 or Zynq UltraScale+ FPGA platforms.
• Experience with PetaLinux.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux.
• Knowledge of AXI4, AXI-Stream, AXI-Lite and DMA.
• Experience with embedded ARM processors.
• Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing.
• Experience using Git version control.
• Familiarity with FINN, Brevitas, ONNX and QONNX.
• Experience deploying on FPGA platforms.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers and spectrum analysers.
